The recommended
changes are as follows:
1. Currently, committee chairmen are limited to serving
two, one year terms. The Bylaws would be amended to remove the term limit.
2. The
nominating committee is currently elected by the general membership. The Bylaws would be amended to authorize
the PTA President to appoint the nominating committee with the approval of the Executive Board.
3. The elected officer
positions of second vice president and corresponding secretary would be eliminated. The duties of the corresponding
secretary would be assigned to the recording secretary. The second vice president’s duties related
to membership would be assigned to a standing committee of the PTA. This change to the bylaws would not
take effect until the election of officers in 2010.
4. The Bylaws would be amended to indicate
that the vice president would be expected to serve as president at the conclusion of the president’s term. This change
to the bylaws would not take effect until the election of officers in 2010.
