Mrs. Karen Rawlyk
In July 2008 Crestview Cardinals welcomed
Mrs. Karen Rawlyk as our new principal.
Mrs. Rawlyk is a graduate of and currently serving her twenty-fifth year
as an educator in Henrico County Public Schools. She knew when she was in the first grade that she wanted
to become an Elementary School teacher. After graduating from J. R. Tucker High School, she attended
Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a BS in Early Childhood Education. While teaching at
Jackson Davis Elementary for six years in grades K, 1, and 2, she completed a Master’s Program in School Administration
and Supervision, also at VCU. Mrs. Rawlyk next served at Crestview Elementary as the Resource Teacher for ten years.
After having two children of her own, Mrs. Rawlyk accepted the position as Resource Teacher and then Assistant Principal at
Twin Hickory Elementary School; where she served in a leadership capacity for eight years alongside her own children who were
students there.
Mrs. Rawlyk is very excited to be returning to the Crestview community, serving as Principal
of "such a wonderful school." She states, "I feel like I'm coming home. Once a cardinal,
always a cardinal." Mrs. Rawlyk believes in a positive attitude and open communication, welcoming comments or concerns
to ensure the safety and best education possible for all students. "Children are our priority, and our goal is
to help students achieve successes that reach beyond their expectations. Everyday at Crestview will be a great day for
learning, and for learning something NEW!"
